An iPhone Connection Guide
Assuming you have already downloaded Jabber from the App Store, please launch it.
You will be greeted with the following screen…
Tap Advanced settings
It will be set to Automatically. Please turn this off, and select Cisco IM and Presence
Your ID is your staff ID@derby.ac.uk. As illustrated above and tap Continue.
Enter your normal staff ID password and tap Sign In.
Any contacts you have setup on the desktop Jabber will automatically be imported.
Please be aware, that calls made and received on a mobile jabber client such as the iPhone will have a few seconds connection time, this is normal.
For stability whilst on a phone connected to the campus WiFi it’s recommended you do not roam whilst talking, as dropouts may occur as the phone renegotiates connections between access points.
It is recommended to disconnect from the WiFi and use the phones 4G cellular service and connect to the Universities VPN service. Jabber will connect whilst connected to the Staff, Tech and Contractor VPN services.
