How to Subscribe to Google Calendar Using Outlook

  • Google Account
  • Outlook Desktop Application

 

Procedure:

 

NOTE: GOOGLE SYNC APPLICATION SUPPORT ENDED ON 1ST OF AUGUST 2014, MEANING THAT USERS WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO USE THE APPLICATION TO SYNCHRONISE THEIR GOOGLE CALENDAR WITH OUTLOOK AFTER THAT DATE. THIS PROCEDURE IS AN ALTERNATIVE TO GOOGLE SYNC APPLICATION ALLOWING USERS TO VIEW THEIR GOOGLE CALENDARS IN OUTLOOK.

 

Acquire Private Link for Your Google Calendar

1. Start by accessing your Google Calendar using web browser. Navigate to google.com website and log in with your Google Account Credentials. You should be redirected by to Google Search Home Page. From the application launchpad, select Google Calendar.

 

 

 

2. Select your preferred calendar from the left pane and click on the arrow on the right side to reveal further options > then select Calendar Settings.

 

 

3. In the middle of the page, you will find section called Private Address. From there, click on the green ICAL button.

 

 

4. You will be presented with an address link. Right click on the link and select Copy link address or copy shortcut, depending on the browser you are using.

 

 

5. Keep this link saved as it will be required further in the procedure. 

 

Adding Internet Calendar to Outlook

1. Start by opening Outlook using desktop icon if present

 

 

 

or by browsing All Programs List in Start Menu

 

 

or by searching using search function found in Start Menu

 

 

2. On top of the application Window, click on File

 

 

 

3. From the Account Information, select your preferred account and then click on Account Settings

 

 

 

4. Navigate the window and access Internet Calendars Tab > then select New...

 

 

5. You will be prompted to enter your Internet Calendar Subscription link that you acquired at the beginning of this procedure. Press Ctrl + V to pate the link into the text box > then Click Add

 

 

6. After adding the link, you will be prompted to adjust your subscription options. Here you can change your Calendar Name, Description and choose whether you want to download any relevant attachments for items in the calendar.

 

 

7. To ensure that your calendar subscription has been added successfully, navigate your Outlook application and allocate relevant calendar.

 

 

NOTE: This will allow you to view subscribed Google Calendar, but it will not allow you to change entries. In order to add new appointments and events, you will need to access Google Calendar using their website on https://www.google.co.uk/
