        Tools>

                 Database Utility>

                                    Convert Database> To Access 2002 – 2003 File Format…

  • You will get a message saying

‘All open objects must be closed prior to converting to a different version.Do you want Microsoft access to close the objects?’

Select Yes

  • Select a location and file name and click OK
  • You get another message

  • Select OK.

The file will now open on a computer with Access 2013 – but is best to convert the database so that it is saved as an Access 2013 file:

Select File> Save Database As

It will give you a message saying

‘All open objects must be closed before you save the database.

Do you want Microsoft Access to close all open objects?’

Select Yes

It will give you the Save as box

Save the file as new name with the type Microsoft Access database
