Annually, IT Services look to update and “refresh” our software applications during the Summer period, ensuring that students and academics have the latest software tools available to them. We use this opportunity each year to audit the University’s teaching software by looking at staff requirements for the new academic year and reviewing what could be retired from the system.
With this in mind, all academic staff should now confirm which teaching software titles they require for the academic year 2019/20; for both new applications and also requests for any previously installed applications.
It is our intention to run the latest version of the application available at the time of packaging. If you require a specific older version, please highlight this in your request. Where possible, IT Services offer updates of most titles twice a year, in Summer and January (if requested). Updates outside of these times are not generally approved unless previously agreed with us or a genuine need arises for the update; such as a critical security patch.
As we complete software requests, we will need to contact a nominated member of staff to test and sign-off the application, ensuring all aspects of the application are working correctly, beyond the initial testing that IT Services shall perform. To minimise the disruption sometimes seen when software is not fully tested in time for teaching, we’d appreciate your help in giving our students the best experience possible.
To streamline the request process, this year we have introduced a new request form which you can find at the address below.

Please complete this Software Request form before Monday 20th May.
We cannot guarantee that any requests received after this date will be available for use from September.
