A number of rooms are being fitted with a new technology that will enable the use of traditional whiteboards to be digitally captured for your lectures. The technology known as ‘AirBoards’ have just been deployed into Kedleston Road B226 and if proven to be successful we will deploy more as needed or requested.
To start using the ‘AirBoard’ following these instructions, if you need help in setting up the session please call the service centre either from the touch panel on the lectern or on ext:1234
Open a web browser and go to https://airboard.crestron.com this will open the following page:
Enter your name & the Crestron ID found on base of camera arm, click on ‘View Board’ button, Press the flashing blue camera button on the controller at the side of the whiteboard, you have now started a whiteboard session, at this point you can share the session by email or web link by using the info displayed in the window.
Use the whiteboard in the traditional way using standard coloured whiteboard markers, your whiteboard will be presented in the browser and updated as you make changes etc. The whiteboard will not capture your hands or movements. The board will save any changes you make automatically, you won’t need to do anything else to set up your session.
You can share your whiteboard with anyone you like at any time by either an email or a unique web link to the session, you do this by clicking on the ‘Participants’ button.
You could, for example, share to the entire class via a mailing list, or you could copy the link and share this on the main screen for them you point their browsers at, they can use any web browser on any device, Laptop, iPad, Android, Smartphone etc.
The participants can also download specific sections of presentation using the download button or download an automatically generated PDF at the end of the session which will show multiple pages generated as you make changes on the whiteboard.
You can, of course, add these into you Panopto recordings later or reuse them in another class, as you will have a convenient PDF file available, this could also be a great resource for the students to have as whiteboards have been difficult to capture in the past.
When you have finished your session download a copy of the whiteboard slides and click on the ‘End’ button to leave the session, the data will automatically be deleted once you leave.
