The email system that the University uses has been updated by Microsoft to remove the least secure account access. If re-entering your password within settings or your mail app does not work, please follow the advice below to setup your account. Please contact us if you need further help. You will be able to access your email through the Unimail tile on UDo.derby.ac.uk until your device is setup.

Apple iOS
Your Apple iPhone / iPad needs to be running iOS version 12 or above to access the University email service. You can either use Outlook, from the Apple App store, or the Mail app.
If you have entered your password into your Mail app and your email is not working, please follow the steps below to re-enable your account.
- Select Settings
- Select Mail then Accounts [or Mail, Contacts, Calendars or Passwords & Accounts on older devices]
- Select your Exchange account (your @unimail.derby.ac.uk account)
- Select Delete Account
- Add your account again, selecting Microsoft Exchange
- You will be asked for your email address, after you enter this the first time and select sign in, please use <Student ID>@unimail.derby.ac.uk

Apple MacOS
Your Mac to be running MacOS 10.14 (Mojave) and above. To continue using the Mail app, follow the steps below or you can use the Outlook app. Please backup your contacts before completing the tasks below using this guide.
- Go to System Preferences and then click on 'Internet Accounts'.
- Remove your University account by clicking on it and then clicking the ' - ' in the left bottom corner.
- Now setup you email account. Launch Mail. (Click the icon in the dock or go to the Applications folder to open it.)
- Add a mail account by going to the Mail menu and click Add Account > Exchange and then click Continue.
- Enter the following information and then click Sign In when done:
- Full Name: the name you want displayed on your outgoing mail
- Email Address: <username>@unimail.derby.ac.uk (do not use an email alias)
- Password: your University password
- Select the apps you want to use with this account and then click Done.

Android
University email is now only available on the Outlook app on your Android device.
Please follow this guide to setup Outlook from the Google Play Store.
Once setup, students can forward email to another account.
POP / IMAP
Microsoft is retiring POP and IMAP as a way to access University email. Your best option is to obtain the Outlook app on your device.

Windows 10 Mail
IT Services recommend Outlook to view your email, however if this is not available, please see the instructions below to update the Windows Mail app.
- Open the Mail app, and click Settings
- Select Manage accounts
- Remove your University account and Add account again
Microsoft Office
If you are using an older version of Microsoft Office, then you can download the latest version from https;//office.com on 5 devices. To check the version you have, open Word or Excel, select Account and look at the product information. You should be using version 2012 or greater.
