Your security details enable you to securely change your password, access your account and use multi-factor authentication ('MFA').
Important: You will need to know your password and have access to your old method of verification to log into the system to carry out this procedure. If you don't know your password or you cannot verify your ID, please ask your line manager to confirm your ID by contacting the IT Service Centre via https://itservicecentre.derby.ac.uk
You will need to update your phone number in the MFA system before you change your phone number or swap your SIM.

Access your security information
1. Go to https://www.microsoft365.com/
2. Log in using your @derby.ac.uk email address.
3. Click on your initials/photo in the top right.
4. Select View account.
5. In 'Security Info', click Update Info. You may be asked to verify your username and password.
Update your security information
We recommend you enable the Microsoft Authenticator app. This can be set up for systems used outside of work (e.g. your personal email and social media accounts). If you wish to setup verification via text or call, please follow these steps.
Add the Microsoft Authenticator application
6. Click on Add sign-in method.
7. From the drop-down menu, click on Authenticator app.
8. Click Add.
9. Download the Microsoft Authenticator app (if you haven't already).
10. Click on Next.
11. If prompted, allow notifications.
12. Then add an account, and select Work or School.
13. Click on Next.
14. Scan the QR code.
15. Click on Next.
16. Approve the sign-in on your mobile phone.
17. Click on Next.
Add a phone number
1. Click on Add sign-in method.
2. From the drop-down menu, select Phone. You can add more than one phone number using the 'Alternative phone' option or your office phone using the 'Office phone' option.
3. Click on the country code drop-down menu.
4. Choose your country code.
5. Enter your phone number.
6. Click on either the Text me a code or Call me radio buttons.
7. Click Next.
8. Enter the code provided.
9. Select Next.
Change your default sign-in method
1. Click on Change.
2. Click on the drop-down menu.
3. Select your preferred default verification method.
4. Click Confirm.
