Your security details enable you to securely change your password, access your account and use multi-factor authentication ('MFA').
Important: You will need to know your password to log into the system to carry out this procedure. If you don't know your password or the system has your old phone number, please call the IT Service Centre on 01332 591234 where we will need to verify your identity before removing the old number from the system for you.
You will need to update your phone number in the MFA system before you change your phone number or swap your SIM.

Access your security information
- Access https://staff.derby.ac.uk.
- Log in using your @derby.ac.uk email address.
- Left-click on your initials/photo.
- Left-click on 'View account'.
- In 'Security Info', left-click 'Update Info'. You may be asked to verify your username and password.
Update your security information
We recommend you enable the Microsoft Authenticator appl. This can be set up for systems used outside of work (e.g. your personal email and social media accounts).
Add the Microsoft Authenticator application
- Left-click on 'Add Method'.
- From the drop-down menu, left-click on 'Authenticator app'.
- Left-click on 'Add'.
- Download the Microsoft Authenticator app (if you haven't already).
- Left-click on 'Next'.
- If prompted, allow notifications.
- Then add an account, and select "Work or School".
- Left-click on 'Next'.
- Scan the QR code.
- Left-click on 'Next'.
- Approve the sign-in on your mobile phone.
- Left-click on 'Next'.
Add a phone number
- Left-click on 'Add Method'.
- From the drop-down menu, left-click on 'Phone'. You can add more than one phone number using the 'Alternative phone' option or your office phone using the 'Office phone' option.
- Left-click on the country code drop-down menu.
- Left-click on your country code.
- Enter your phone number.
- Left-click on either the "Text me a code" or "Call me" radio buttons.
- Left-click on 'Next'.
- Enter the code provided.
- Left-click on 'Next'.
Change your default sign-in method
- Left-click on 'Change'.
- Left-click on the drop-down menu.
- Left-click on your preferred default verification method.
- Left-click on 'Confirm'
