This guide will go through the procedure for installing Office 365 software (Outlook, OneDrive, Excel, Word, Powerpoint and more) on your personal computer running Windows 11.
Required
- A PC running Windows 11 with Internet Connection
- Valid University of Derby Student Account
Procedure
1. Sign in to UDo and click the Microsoft 365 tile
Or alternatively, access the Microsoft 365 portal directly by going to https://m365.cloud.microsoft/
2. Sign in to Office 365 Portal by using your student number followed by @unimail.derby.ac.uk
3. Click the Apps option in bottom left, and select All apps on the menu
4. In the top right, click Install apps > Microsoft 365 apps
5. This will take you to the 'My account' site. In the 'Office apps & devices' section click Install Office
6. This will download the setup file to your computer. Once the download has completed, an installer will initiate automatically and start installing Microsoft Office 365 Apps. If the installer does not start open from the link in your browser (as highlighted below) or run the OfficeSetup file in your downloads folder
7. Shortly, you will see a new window indicating that the installer is getting ready and preparing the files for installation;
8. Once the installation has finished it will show a message:
9. You may need to login to the Office App such as Word at launch for the first time in order to activate the software. It is also recommended to login as it allows you to save your work directly to your OneDrive and allowing you to keep your files stored in the cloud, securely.
Click Sign in or create account
10. Enter your student number followed by @unimail.derby.ac.uk, so for example if your student number is 1000000000, you would enter 1000000000@unimail.derby.ac.uk
Then enter your password
11. You may see the following message, click No, this app only on here. This step is important, if you select 'Yes' you will see an error message and need to start the process again.
12. Click Close on the privacy message
13. You have successfully installed Microsoft Office on your computer.
