Over each summer period, IT Services will be looking to update the same software applications that were delivered to students during the past academic year.
We will not be asking academics to re-request during this time, as we have done in previous years, as we are conscious of the already high demands on workloads during this busy period.
Instead, we will be looking at application usage data, and where the usage of applications has been identified as being low (whilst considering this extraordinary year where usage will have been different), we will work with Colleges directly to identify where these applications could be retired from the system. This is to ensure that we can provide a consistent, current, and fit-for-purpose application portfolio.
What you need to do:
No action is required from you, we will be working with Colleges directly if required. However, IT Services may be in further contact with individual academics to request specific software testing as packages are updated. This is to ensure all aspects are working correctly for teaching and learning purposes, so to minimise the disruption in time for teaching, we would appreciate your help in giving our students the best experience possible and assist us with any testing that is required.
If you have any queries about the ITS Software Refresh process this year, you can contact your IT business partner.
If you need additional applications which have not previously been delivered at the University, these should be communicated within your College as part of wider business plans.
