University of Derby recommend using the CAT installer to most reliably connect MacOS devices to eduroam.
1) Open a web browser and go to https://cat.eduroam.org/.
2) Click the large ‘download your eduroam installer’ button (at the bottom of the page).
3) Select University of Derby from the list of institutions (on the left-hand side).
4) Select an installer to download that matches your device's Operating System.
5) Execute the installer.
For best results, please use the built-in browser (Safari) to open the configuration file.
The profile will install itself after you click (or tap) the button. You will be asked for confirmation/input at several points:
- to install the profile
- to accept the server certificate authorities (multiple times)
- to enter the username and password: Enter your credentials:
• Username:
Students → studentnumber@unimail.derby.ac.uk
Staff → username@derby.ac.uk
• Password: Your standard University password
Alternative steps for manual connection to eduroam:
- Start by Clicking on Wi-Fi icon at the top right corner of your desktop;
- Select Eduroam;

A pop-up will appear prompting you to enter your credentials. Enter your credentials:
• Username:
Students → studentnumber@unimail.derby.ac.uk
Staff → username@derby.ac.uk
• Password: Your standard University password - Click Join;
- Another message will appear to verify Certificate, click Continue;
- If prompted, enter the credentials used to log into your Mac, and click Update Settings;
- Wait a few moments and the Wi-Fi status icon will turn bold and you will be connected;
- To verify, you may wish to click on the Wi-Fi status icon where you should now be able to see a check mark next to the Eduroam Wi-Fi point.
