What is WordPress?
WordPress is a web content management system (CMS) that makes it easier for website editors to manage content. WordPress has its roots in blogging, but is widely used for managing sites in general.
Getting Started
Before requesting a WordPress site, Please consider the following:
We want to ensure that WordPress is the correct environment to use when someone requests a WordPress site. There are a number of criteria to be considered when requesting a site such as GDPR, accessibility and information security.
We ask that WordPress should only be used to facilitate Collaborative Teaching and learning projects. It should NOT be used for Personal blogs or Marketing purposes.
While WordPress may be easy to use and set up for an individual to run one blog, we are running a shared system here are the University. This means that custom themes and plugins ( i.e. developed by an external agency) are prohibited. If however, you have an idea for a feature or use-case that you feel is beneficial then please get in touch.
To start using WordPress, we ask that your inquiry be directed to TEL@derby.ac.uk or ext 1865.
