This guide outlines the steps to generate a captions file for a recorded video file using Microsoft Stream.

 

Pre-requisites : Video file accessible from your desktop storage location.

 

1. Within your web browser, navigate to office.com and sign in with your staff or student account

EG:

Staff : 787123@derby.ac.uk

Student : 100123456@unimail.derby.ac.uk

 

2. Select the 'All apps' icon in bottom left corner 

 

3. Click on the icon for 'Stream'

 

4. Within Stream, select My content > Videos

 

5. Select Create > Upload video

 

6. Once the video has uploaded, select the pencil icon to 'Update video details'

 

7. Select 'Download file' next to Captions

 

8. This will download a VTT file that can be opened within the notepad application on Windows devices and TextEdit on MacOS devices.
