In support of continual service maintenance and improvement for UDo, each summer the DerbyUni app is subject to a Force Upgrade process initiated by our supplier, Ex Libris*.
*At the request of the Portal & Application Development Team.
This annually aligns all users of the mobile app to the latest release, allowing them access to the latest functionality as well as ensuring they are in receipt of recent bug fixes to maintain user performance.
User Experience:
Users of the DerbyUni app who do not have the minimum permitted release* installed on their device will receive the following in-app notification:
*Latest Version - Set by Ex Libris as part of the Force Upgrade process.
This is a mandatory request, forcing the user to install the latest version of the app before they can continue to use it. It is not like a standard update notification, where they can choose to delay the update until a moment of their choice.
On clicking Ok users will be redirected to the appropriate App Store to enable them to install the latest version of the app as normal.
The University of Derby does not issue any further communications around this process.
NB: The ability to upgrade as instructed is dependent on the compatibility of the users device operating system. The minimum requirements for the latest version of the DerbyUni app are detailed within the respective App Stores:
Users with a device that does not meet the minimum requirements to upgrade and maintain access to the mobile app will still be able to use the UDo web app through a mobile or desktop browser.
If you require any further guidance on this process please contact the Portal & Application Development Team.
