Getting connected
The recommended method to connect Android devices to eduroam is using the geteduroam app. See geteduroam – IT Services - University of Derby
The below manual instructions should only be used if connection via geteduroam is failing for your Android device.
To connect to Eduroam manually, please see the following steps:
- Go to Settings;
- For some Android devices, go to Network & Internet. Step 2 may not apply to all Android devices;
- Select Wi-Fi;
- Select Eduroam, then set the following details:
- EAP method: PEAP
- Phase 2 auth: MSCHAPV2

CA Certificate: Use system certificate & enter the Domain: derby.ac.uk
On Pixel Devices/ Android 14: Set CA Certificate to Trust on First use, or on older devices select: do not validate. The Anonymous Identity box needs to be blank. -
Enter your University username in the
following format:
Staff: username@derby.ac.uk
Student: student number@unimail.derby.ac.uk - Enter your University Password;
- Select Connect.
You should now be connected to Eduroam.
If you have any issues connecting to the network, you may need to forget the existing Eduroam wireless profile before re-connecting.
To forget the Eduroam wireless profile:
- Go to settings on your device;
- For some Android devices, go to Network & Internet. Step 2 may not apply to all Android devices;
- Go to Wi-Fi;
- Select and hold eduroam
- Select Forget Network.
- Please also forget the following networks if listed: The Cloud, Uniguest and Unistaff
- Try reconnecting to Eduroam
If the above steps do not work, you may need to remove saved credentials from your phone. To do so:
- Go to settings on your device;
- Go to Security;
- Select Clear Credentials;
- You may be prompted to type in your pass-code.
CHROMEBOOK
- go to your chromebook wifi and join eduroam
- Check security on EAP and the EAP method is on PEAP
- EAP phase 2 authentication is on automatic
- Server CA Certificate is on Do not check
- leave subject match and subject alternative name match blank
- For Domain suffix match put in derby.ac.uk
- For Identity put in your student id but put @derby.ac.uk at the end for example 100123321@derby.ac.uk
- enter your account password
- leave Anonymous Identity blank
- Then press connect
